“Great price. Perfect installation. Timely and responsive. Nigel made it sooooo easy. Really happy with his”
San Rafael, CA
“Nigel did a thorough evaluation of our home hardening needs, came up with a complete plan for specific solutions, and broke down the process into what was needed now, what to do as soon as possible, and what could wait for a while. He removed shrubs and small trees that were too close together, or too close to the house, and cleared out mulch near the house. He installed ember resistant mesh on our foundation vents and soffit vents, and also installed new gutter guards. All these things were done in a neat and efficient manner. His estimate detailed the specific things he was planning to do and the costs for each, all very reasonable. In addition he disposed of all of the remnants daily. He's the kind of contractor you look for! I highly recommend him and Adaptive Home Hardening.”

“★★★★★1 year agoI highly recommend Adaptive Home Hardening for installing ember-proof vent and gutter guards. I appreciated the response and fair quote from Nigel, the owner. Sean and Garrett did a fantastic job, working diligently and even cleaning my gutters and downspouts before installing the gutter screens. They were so kind and enthusiastic – the type of people you would want to have working for you.”

We have partnered with MitigateNow to ensure we are providing our customers with the leading-edge products and strategies to protect homes and property in the ever-evolving wildfire landscape. Being a part of this program means we have access to the latest products at the best prices.
All MitigateNow contractors meet strict qualification standards, including licensing, insurance, and proven experience in wildfire home hardening. You can trust you’re working with a professional who’s been fully vetted.
Our contractors follow nationally recognized wildfire safety guidelines, including IBHS Wildfire Prepared™ recommendations, ensuring your home’s upgrades meet or exceed best practices.
MitigateNow partners have access to specialized, fire-rated products and installation techniques not always available through standard contractors.
From assessment to completed project, our network contractors provide a step-by-step approach that covers every vulnerability, giving you a clear, confident path to a safer home.
Start with simple steps like clearing vegetation within five feet of your home, keeping gutters free of debris, and sealing gaps where embers could enter. From there, consider upgrades such as ember-resistant vents, fire-rated roofing, and non-combustible siding.
Defensible space is the buffer zone you create by clearing or reducing flammable vegetation around your home. This space slows the spread of wildfire and gives firefighters a safer area to defend your property.
Yes. Studies from IBHS and FEMA show that homes with proper hardening measures, like ember-resistant vents and fire-resistant roofing, are far more likely to survive a wildfire than homes without these improvements.
Preparation should happen year-round. Clearing vegetation in winter and spring ensures your home is ready before the peak wildfire months, while routine maintenance in fall keeps your property safe heading into the next season.
Homeowners can use checklists from IBHS, FEMA, and other organizations to identify vulnerabilities and plan upgrades. You can download these free printable resources directly from our site.
While some tasks like cleaning gutters or basic landscaping—can be done yourself, critical upgrades such as vent replacement, siding installation, and roof work should be handled by a licensed contractor to ensure safety and compliance.
Every home presents unique challenges, and our mission is to strengthen each one against the growing threat of wildfires. Whether it is creating defensible space, upgrading to fire-rated materials, or sealing vulnerable entry points, we take a detail-driven approach to ensure lasting protection and peace of mind.
